City of Springfield

Known as the City of Firsts, Springfield is the birthplace of basketball and Dr. Seuss with shrines dedicated to both located here. Springfield is also home to Springfield Armory National Historic site, the nation’s first armory commissioned by George Washington and Forest Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country designed by Frederick Law Olmstead who also designed Central Park. MGM chose Springfield for their home in 2017 when they opened a 2 million sq.ft. resort casino in downtown Springfield. There’s plenty of outdoor space and one-of-a-kind attractions to visit in Springfield.
