UMass Amherst Music, Clarinet Festival

March 19

On Sunday, March 19, clarinet players and fans of all ages and abilities are invited to attend ClariConnect, a full day of free events hosted by the department’s Clarinet Studio led by Romie de Guise-Langlois. The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Music Wing of the Bromery Center for the Arts, and will include clinics and performances featuring Professor de Guise-Langlois and renowned bass clarinetist André Moison of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.

Participants will be able to take part in a masterclass with Moison, play as part of a clarinet choir, apply to have their pre-existing clarinet chamber group perform, or simply observe the proceedings. The event is free – registration and a schedule is available on the department’s website, umass.edu/music. Those interested in taking part in the masterclass or having their pre-existing clarinet group perform must register by March 1. The day’s events will culminate with a free concert by Moison and UMass faculty pianist Steven Beck at 2:00 p.m. in Bezanson Recital Hall. Sponsors of ClariConnect include Buffet Crampon Instruments, Gerry’s Music Shop, and Yamaha.

Free parking for Bromery Center events is available in nearby University lot 71 off Massachusetts Avenue and lot 62 via Thatcher Way or Stockbridge Road.  Visit the Fine Arts Center website for more information or refer to the UMass interactive parking map.
