The New England Air Museum, Open Cockpit

Celebrate Father’s Day weekend at the museum with Helicopter & Open Cockpit Day! Experience our helicopter collection, climb aboard historic aircraft, fly in our F-18 simulator, and more!

The helicopters on display vary from the large 22,000 pound CH-54 Tarhe, sometimes called the Skycrane, to a small one man helicopter. In addition we will display the Huey, the Cobra, a Navy drone, an award winning manpowered helicopter, and many others. F-14 Tomcat will be on display in our outdoor yard!!

Exclusive Viewing of the F-14 Tomcat
For the first time in several years, the museum’s iconic F-14 Tomcat, usually housed in storage, will be on full display in our outdoor yard for visitors to admire. This legendary aircraft, known for its pivotal role in the U.S. Navy, will be out in view for the entire weekend, June 15th, and 16th. Get up close and personal with this remarkable fighter jet!

Open Cockpit Experience
On Saturday, June 15th, visitors can look forward to a unique Open Cockpit event. From 10 AM to 2PM, guests will have the chance to sit in the cockpits of select aircraft.  Sit inside these historic aircraft and gain a pilot’s perspective. It’s an exciting opportunity for children and adults to learn more about aviation and its history.

Family Fun Programming
In addition to the F-14 Tomcat viewing and Open Cockpit event, the museum will host a variety of family-friendly activities on both June 15th and 16th. Enjoy interactive exhibits, educational workshops, and creative play sessions. These activities are designed to engage young minds and foster a love of aviation and science.

Special Culinary Offerings
To make the Father’s Day weekend even more enjoyable, we are excited to announce that special food offerings will be available from Jamaican Kitchen. Visitors can savor a delicious array of Jamaican cuisine, adding a flavorful touch to their museum experience. From savory jerk chicken to mouthwatering patties, there’s something to delight every palate.

Event is included with the price of admission.

Tickets are $23.00 for ages 15 and up, $18.00 for seniors 65 and up and $13.00 for ages 4 to 14. New England Air Museum members and children under 3 are admitted free. Admission for veterans with valid ID is $12. Tickets can be purchased in-person or online at www.neam.org.

Aircraft are subject to change, restrictions may apply. Library passes are not valid on open cockpit days.
