The New England Air Museum, Open Cockpit

The Museum will hold its second Open Cockpit Day for 2019 on Saturday, February 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Special activities include climb aboard experiences in historic aircraft; flight simulators; hands-on Build & Fly Challenges, and much more! A variety of aircraft will be open for visitors including the WWII era Republic P-47D “Thunderbolt,” the Vietnam War era Bell UH-1B “Huey” helicopter, as well as supersonic jet fighters including the North American F-100A “Super Sabre” and the Lockheed F-104C “Starfighter.”
Also, Museum member Jason Ortin will do a presentation on Drone Technology Today. Jason’s presentation will provide an overview of how drones function and how they are being put to work in industries such as real estate, agriculture, insurance and construction. He will also discuss how drones are being used by police and fire departments to help first responders save lives and review some of the rules that determine where and when drones can be flown. Mr. Ortin will provide presentations at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Museum volunteer Steve Sladyk will display radio controlled aircraft and drones with demonstrations in the exhibit hangars and provide information about local R/C clubs.
All activites are free with Museum admission. The Open Cockpit program runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with the Museum and gift shop staying open until 5:00 PM. Sneakers or rubber-soled shoes are recommended.
