Springfield Annual Pancake Breakfast

Celebrating the City’s 389th birthday the “World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast” returns to Main Street in Downtown Springfield as the community sits down at Springfield’s breakfast table in celebration of the city’s May 14, 1636 founding. The World’s Largest Pancake Breakfast has been a celebration of Springfield’s spirit since 1986, when Springfield celebrated its 350th birthday.

Saturday at 8AM and will last until the last flapjack has been flipped. The breakfast table will stretch down Main Street to Court Square.  There will be three cooking tents, four ticket tables, 12 beverage stations and more than 300 volunteers.

The breakfast menu continues to expand. In addition to the traditional pancakes, milk, juice, and coffee, Smithfield Packaged meats is offering a side of bacon, something they have been doing since 2007. Scrumptious Little Bites, courtesy of Bimbo Bakeries USA, are also returning this year.

There will be lots of entertainment on two stages, photo ops, companies and community service organizations to interact with, friends and neighbors to meet, and new acquaintances to be made.  Of course, there will be piles of pancakes, creamy butter to top them along with sweet syrup. There will be cups of coffee, mugs of milk, jugs of juice, and bottles for water.

Admission and beverages are free. A serving of pancakes with a side of bacon is $3 for adults, $1 for children, and free for the more than 65,000 area school students with tickets.

• Pancake Mix – 20 Cases

• Pancake Syrup – 17 Cases

• Butter – 205 pounds

• Bacon – 1,050 pounds

• Little Bites – 200 cases

• Milk – 576 gallons

• Orange Juice – 280 gallons

• Coffee – 225 gallons
