Springfield, Annual Downtown Ice Invasion
February 17, 2021 - February 21, 2021
The 4th Annual Downtown Ice Invasion will take place during the week of February 17th at the Springfield Museums! Get ready for over a dozen crafted ice sculptures all placed at the Quadrangle.
This year’s theme, get ready to find a lot of Springfield Museum displays come to life through the ice. Dinosaurs, bears, Hasbro game pieces, monopoly man, Indian Motorcycle Logo, penguins, and much more.
All ice sculptures are carved by local Ice Carver, Joe Almeida. With extensive culinary training and more than 25 successful years in the ice sculpting business, Joe has provided his clients with award-winning, innovative and professional quality ice sculptures for all occasions. This is Springfield Downtown’s 4th year partnering with him and each year gets better and better!
Dress warm, grab the masks, and bring the whole family down for a fun afternoon at the Springfield Museums.
There will be free parking on Edward Street at the Springfield Museums and gates will be open until 7pm to enjoy the ice at night during that week. The Quadrangle will be all lit up.
Additional ice sculptures can be seen at Pynchon Plaza, Starbucks at Monarch Place, and the Springfield Regional Visitor Center.
Get in on the fun and take a few photos for the Ice Invasion Instagram Photo Contest! See an ice sculpture, snap a photo with it, and upload it to Instagram with #BeDowntownSpringfield for a chance to win prizes. The more photos you upload with different sculptures, the more chances you’ll have to win! Profiles must be on public in order to participate. Contest ends on Sunday, February 21st. The more photos you post, the more likely to be a winner.
