Bring your friends and family for a picture perfect day. A favorite time of year in the Berkshires for leaf peeping! Walk the trails; dine on the terrace; and savor the art, stories, and memories.
Enjoy walking trails, scenic views, and sculptures, and that’s just outside! On the Museum’s scenic 36-acre site, enjoy a walk with stunning Berkshire vistas, including gardens, specimen trees and plants (identified with labels), and sculptures created by Norman Rockwell’s son Peter; meander through our field paths to the Housatonic River, or pick an apple from trees planted for each Rockwell grandchild. Bring your own picnic or select New England favorites from our Terrace Café, which is open seasonally. Visitors may sketch or paint on the grounds, using their own materials – or purchase kits in the Museum Store.
A warm welcome awaits you at the home for American illustration inspired by Norman Rockwell’s legacy! Marvel at Rockwell’s full-size original paintings, view all 323 of his The Saturday Evening Post covers, and be enchanted by special exhibitions that highlight the artistry of leading illustrators, then and now. There’s always something new to discover.
Fall in Massachusetts
You won’t want to miss the glorious fall foliage in Massachusetts. From the iconic scenery of the Berkshires to the charming small towns you’ll find across the state, there is plenty to do and see this autumn.
The season starts in mid-to-late September, and peak color often coincides with Columbus Day weekend.
Farmer’s Almanac predicts for 2025 much of New England will be at or near peak fall color by Oct. 11. Massachusetts is expected to be at its peak around Oct. 20 with a full peak being closer to Oct. 28. but we could start seeing changes in leaves in September. Leaf peeping season will be over by Nov. 13.
