Boats and Berms Camp is the ultimate adventure experience for your kids this summer. Two days of whitewater kayak instruction paired with two days of downhill mountain bike coaching create an outdoor education environment like no other.
The first two days of camp are based at Zoar Outdoor. Campers that need equipment will be fitted to boats, PFD’s and paddles at base. After introductions and setting goals with the group, kids will load into vans to be shuttled to the river. Accompanied all day by our certified instructors at Zoar Outdoor, campers will learn the basics of whitewater kayaking, such as stroke technique, wet exits, and how to read whitewater. Day two will follow a similar format, with campers running a section of river with class I and class II rapids.
Days three and four are based at Thunder Mountain Bike Park. Certified instructors will split campers into groups based on riding ability. Children of all abilities are welcome. Beginner groups will learn the fundamentals of mountain biking, while upper level groups will explore more challenging jump and technical trails. The final day will culminate with a ceremony at Thunder for parents and campers.
This camp includes supervision from 9am – 4:30pm. Lunch is included each day. Zoar Outdoor will provide a lunch on the river, while Thunder will provide food vouchers for the “Backyard” food stand. Participants may bring their own gear for either activity. If the condition or appropriateness of your child’s equipment is in question, please contact us. Whitewater equipment (boat, paddle, PFD, sprayskirt, helmet) is included in the base price. Bike park lift tickets and rentals must be purchased separately. Those enrolled in the camp may purchase a lift ticket at 50% off and book a rental at 25% off of walkup prices.
Give your child the outdoor experience of a lifetime this summer!
