The “Fireworks for Freedom” celebration will be located on the field at Westfield Middle School on West Silver Street beginning at 5 p.m. It will feature musical entertainment from Korey & The Knightsmen, food vendors, and fireworks conducted by Atlas Pyrotechnics.

The Middle School lawn will be open at 5:00 pm that evening.

The day commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the 13 former British colonies on July 4, 1776.

Massachusetts became the first state to recognize the Fourth of July as a statewide holiday in 1781.
