Westfield, DecemberFest

November 26

In-person events will kick off on Small Business Saturday, November 26 with the Mayor’s Tree Lighting on Park Square. Festivities will begin with Cocoa and Carols at 5:45pm, featuring the Westfield High School Brass Ensemble, led by Patrick Kennedy and the Westfield High School Show Choir, conducted by Korey Bruno. Cocoa will be provided.

Mayor Mike McCabe will light the city’s Holiday Tree at 6:30 pm and introduce the very special arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will then meet children and their families.

To honor Small Business Saturday on November 26, WOW will also mount the 2nd year of our Pop-Up Holiday Marketplace at WOW’s Creative Arts Center at 105 Elm Street from 10am to 6 pm. The Holiday Marketplace at the Creative Arts Center will continue on Saturday and Sunday, December 3 (10am – 4pm) and 4 (12-4pm)  with a variety of rotating vendors offering wares and crafts for gift-giving.

If you are interested in putting in a bid to sell your wares and beautiful artistic designs, please pre-register HERE.

Westfield on Weekends 5th Annual Tree Jubilee will be Nov. 21- Dec. 7 and is a special fundraiser that supports WOW’s community programming. For the third year, it will take place virtually online, as well as at Roots Athletic Center at 181 Root Road, where visitors may view a wonderland of trees, wreaths and, new this year, tablescapes, donated by area individuals, businesses and organizations.

As in past years, some of the trees and wreaths are designed by their crafters to reflect the work of their businesses or organizations with some, offering additional prizes and certificates within their branches. Raffle tickets will give participants the opportunity to take their favorite tree or wreath home, when the winners are drawn at the end of Tree Jubilee on December 7. Winners can pick up their displays on December 10th from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Roots Athletic Center. Tickets may only be purchased and submitted online through WOW’s website at westfieldonweekends.com. All proceeds from this event help to fund future Westfield on Weekend’s events.

If you are interested in donating a tree, wreath or tabletop display or want to make a monetary donation for which we can create a display in your name, please contact Lis Sunderland Burns at (413) 568-9619 or [email protected] for more information. This year’s Holiday Concert, produced with the Music Department of Westfield State as part of WOW’s Up Close and Musical series will take place at Scanlon Banquet Hall at Westfield State University on Tuesday, December 6 at 7 pm. It will feature faculty and students of the Music Department presenting a holiday program.

WOW’s Creative Arts Center will also offer a special children’s gala as part of WOW’s Cupcakes, Cookies and Community series, “A Frozen Holiday Journey” with the Snow Sisters and Peppermint the Elf! Join the fun and learn about the different winter holidays celebrated in Westfield and around the world on December 2 from 6 – 8pm. For tickets, please click HERE.

The 3rd Annual Holiday Lights Tour will offer families the opportunity to take a self-guided drive-by tour of the city’s outdoor holiday displays. An interactive map can be found HERE and on WOW’s Facebook page, where Westfield residents may also register their homes and businesses and vote for their favorites. Want to join the map? Message WOW on Facebook with your address and we will add you.
