Celebrate World Fish Migration Day with a visit to our underwater viewing windows at the Turners Falls Fishway. Witness the amazing journeys of migratory fish as they travel upriver during their spring spawning run. Pick up a copy of our new Fishway quest. Walk the paved Canalside Trail and learn about migratory fish and an historic mill village. Designed for all ages, this self-directed one-mile adventure leads you from clue to clue on an educational scavenger hunt. Solve the clues to find the secret location of the Quest box.

Share the location with the Fishway staff and receive a gift certificate for an ice cream cone at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant across the river in Gill. Have fun and good luck!

The Turners Falls Fishway is Open this Season!

The Turners Falls Fishway will be open from Saturday, May 13 through Sunday, June 11. Spring on the Connecticut River offers an unrivaled opportunity to witness the migration of shad, sea lamprey and other anadromous fish. These fish migrate from the ocean and head upriver to spawn in the rivers of their birth. A visit to the Turners Falls Fishway provides an opportunity to learn about these amazing journeys.

Admission is always free and the facility is open Wednesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We are also open for the Memorial Day holiday. The Fishway is located on First Street, off Avenue A (15 First Street, Turners Falls). For information please email us at [email protected].
