Shelburne Falls, Indigenous Peoples’ Celebration

October 15, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

Join us on Sunday October 15th 2023 as artisans and performers from local Indigenous nations come together with the Shelburne Historical Society to celebrate our 3rd Annual Indigenous People’s Day. Join us in this multi-cultural tribute to the Native American presence (past, present, and future) in and around Shelburne and the Falls.

This year, the date for our event has been changed to accommodate the schedules of our Native presenters who will be busy appearing at other area events around the weekend of Indigenous People’s Day. Our new date also commemorates the passage of Proclamation 4468 which was signed into law by President Gerald Ford in 1976. The Proclamation made this week in October “American Indian Awareness Week” and is important as the first national recognition of the culture and history of Indigenous Peoples since the founding of the United States of America.

Come in peace and celebrate with us for all the people of our valley’s history!
