Old Sturbridge Village, Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend
January 13 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm EST
An event every day that begins at 9:30 am, repeating until January 16, 2023
Every season offers something unique to see or learn about and winter is no exception.
Winter was perhaps the least busy season in early nineteenth-century rural New England, compared to the busy planting, growing, and harvesting seasons, but there was still plenty to do. Visitors to the Village in the winter can learn about the activities that kept families busy in the winter, such as candlemaking, caring for the year’s preserves, and other vital household tasks –as well as the many ways that early New Englanders kept warm before modern heating and home insulation. Our tradespeople are also busy, working on everything from needlework to pottery to cabinetmaking to blacksmithing.
Through the winter months, we will be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. We are also open this coming Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
