The Office of Planning and Economic Development (OPED) is excited to announce the City’s 3rd annual Doors Open Holyoke (DOH) 2023 will take place on Saturday, October 14th from 9am-12pm.
Doors Open events across the country invite the public to see behind the doors of many places not usually open to the public. Doors Open connects residents and visitors to local places of historical, cultural, and architectural significance to bridge communities and inspire new and broader perspectives. The first Doors Open took place in France in 1984, and the concept has spread to other places in Europe, North America, and elsewhere. Holyoke is pleased to be celebrating our third annual Doors Open celebration!
Doors Open Holyoke lets the public explore locations typically inaccessible to visitors. The event connects participants with historically, culturally and architecturally significant sites. In previous years, Doors Open Holyoke showcased locales such as the train station designed by H.H. Richardson, the Victory Theatre, places of worship and manufacturing companies.
This year’s Discover Holyoke holds special significance as it aligns with Holyoke’s sesquicentennial celebration. A full day of events is planned to commemorate the city’s 150th anniversary.
