Spooktacular Halloween event has been postponed a day because of expected rain. The event will now be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, at Szot Park.

Is there a chill in the air or did a ghost just pass by? Either way, the Spooktacular will haunt Szot Park on Wednesday, October 26 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm!

The Spooktacular will feature safe trick o’ treating, hot dogs served by Chicopee Fresh, dance performances, music, City Councilors, the Book Mobile, ChicopeeTV, the Fire Department and the Police Department!

The event’s main attraction will be the traditional trick-or-treat street where businesses and organizations decorate tables, wear costumes and hand out candy.

In addition, Chicopee Fresh, the School Department’s food service program, will be cooking and serving free hot dogs from its new food truck. The Police and Fire departments will have cruisers and fire trucks set up that children can look at and the Bookmobile will appear decorated and have Halloween-themed books among its collections.

The event is free. Chicopee Electric Light, which will have the first booth on the trick-or-treat street, will be distributing bags to children who don’t bring their own.
