Joseph Allen Skinner State Park is a state-owned, public recreation area located in the towns of Hadley and South Hadley.  The state park surrounds Mount Holyoke, the westernmost peak of the Mount Holyoke Range. At the summit is the historic Prospect House, a former 19th century hotel, first opened in 1851 and now weekend Visitor Center. During the main season—late May through early October—the Summit House is open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holiday Mondays for tours and interpretive programming.
The park offers many hiking trails and breathtaking views of the Connecticut River Valley. The park is managed by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Reach the summit of Mt. Holyoke by road or hiking trail.
