Forest Park in Springfield, is one of the largest urban, municipal parks in the United States, and is the site of America’s first public, municipal swimming pool, and the only other location outside of Washington DC for the JFK Eternal Flame.

Advisory! Main Greeting Road, at the Sumner Avenue entrance, is closed to both cars and pedestrians until Nov 2019. The public can still enter the park through Trafton Road or through the Route 5 park entrance by Picknelly Baseball Field. Both entrances allow public access to the park, the Farmers’ Market, the Barney Carriage House, the pool, splash pad, basketball courts, ballfields, and the zoo.
