Yiddish Book Center, Celebrating Rosh Hashanah

September 6, 2021 - September 8, 2021

The Yiddish Book Center’s museum store has pulled together a sweet list of titles to help you welcome in the New Year. You’ll find holiday and seasonal cookbooks; children’s books about Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkos; and even adult coloring books with intricately drawn Jewish symbols! Music lovers may be interested in Raisins and Almonds, an imaginative children’s story based on the classic Yiddish folksong and involving a little white goat. And two books explore the Jewish holidays throughout the year: Leslea Newman’s Here Is the World—a joyous celebration for young children—and Abigail Pogrebin’s entertaining and reflective My Jewish Year: 18 Holidays, One Wandering Jew.

The two-day celebration marks the start of the year 5781 on the Jewish calendar.

The Center is now open to visitors Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you’re in the area or passing through New England, please plan a visit. Currently on exhibit is Through the Hat and Tales from the Golden Medina, a collection of works by New York City artist Steve Marcus inspired by underground comics and Jewish wisdom from the shtetl.
