Wistariahurst Museum, EXHIBIT: An Evening Out
July 12 - August 29
This exhibit, assembled by guest curators Liz Wood and Louise Harlow, will feature a variety of garments from the Wistariahurst Textile Collection that would have been worn by both women and men in the pursuit of social and cultural entertainment during the 20th Century.
The Wistariahurst textile collection contains over 1,200 artifacts including wedding dresses made of Skinner silk, items from the many workers in the Holyoke mills, military uniforms, shoes, hats, and so much more.
An Evening Out will be on display from July 9 through August 29, 2018.
ABOUT THE CURATORS
For over 25 years, Liz Wood has been a resident “Living History” docent for Storrowton Village Museum in West Springfield, MA. While in pursuit of the textile arts, a lifelong fascination with regional and ancestral lore has led her to a deeper understanding of the area’s material culture. Liz is currently a volunteer in the Wistariahurst textile archives.
Louise Harlow recently graduated from Hampshire College with a concentration in Historical Archaeology. She has worked in window display for many years and is the owner of Bibliophile Books specializing in Antiquarian books and ephemera.
