This amazing exhibit will have a soft opening on September 18th, followed by a gallery talk being held on September 19th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Wistariahurst. Join us for a captivating discussion featuring Erika Slocumb, Dian McCollum, Doug Griffin, and Trudy Monson, the passionate individuals behind the “Reliquary of Blackness Chapter 2: A Legacy of Hope” exhibition.”Through these particular stories, I aim to exhibit not only the work that folks have done for Holyoke but also to show the fullness of their humanity,” says Erika Slocumb, the exhibit’s curator and scholar. “While the information presented in the exhibit is bountiful it is only the tip of a vast historical iceberg.”This exhibit celebrates the legacy of Black individuals, families, and organizations that have shaped Holyoke’s culture, industry, and commitment to community betterment.
