The Death of Lake Cahuilla Art Exhibition
The Death of Lake Cahuilla is an immersive art exhibition delving into the transformation of Lake Cahuilla, now the Salton Sea, in California’s Imperial Valley. Through various mediums like painting, digital art, sculpture, and multimedia installations, it explores the impact of colonization and environmental degradation on the land and its indigenous communities. Using collages combining traditional and digital techniques with vintage materials, the artist invites viewers to reflect on the historical and ecological layers of the region. The exhibition also celebrates indigenous resilience and aims to inspire action for cultural preservation and sustainable practices, fostering awareness and positive change for a more sustainable future.Jason Montgomery blends traditional and digital techniques while incorporating source materials like vintage periodicals and maps to convey a sense of history and memory.

October 16th-November 7th, 2023 | Mondays, 10am-2pm and Tuesdays, 4:30pm-6:30pm.
