Hear the deep BOOM of historic musket and rifle shooting. Visitors can learn about Springfield Armory’s historic weapons through the senses of sight, the sounds of rifles blasting, and the acrid smell of burning gun powder. National Park Service Volunteers and Rangers will describe and then fire reproductions of historic Springfield Armory weapons. Weather permitting.
ABOUT THE PARK: Springfield Armory National Historic Site is the location of the nation’s first armory (1794 – 1968) and was established by George Washington. The site includes historic grounds, buildings, and the world’s largest historic American military firearms collection.
There is no entrance fee to visit Springfield Armory National Historic Site. The Museum is open Wednesday-Sunday, 9:30am-4:00pm.
