The Big E, Halfway to St. Paddy’s Day” Weekend

September 12 - September 14

Six months removed from the Monday, March 17 holiday, New England’s largest fair will host a series of live acts in “a nod to all things Ireland” from Friday, Sept. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 14.

Each performance in the “Halfway” lineup is free with the price of admission to the fair.

Lineup:

Kilted Colin (Sept. 12-14 at 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Storrowton Gazebo) — A one-man band variety act that is “a spectacular blend of hilarious dance moves, impressive tricks and kickflips.” The act features bagpipes and a 10-foot-tall unicycle. 

Whiskey Cherrybomb (Sept. 13 at 12:30 p.m. on The E Stage) — A “Celtic Acid Folk” band with a passion for Irish music whose sound is a blend of punk, folk and rock.
Black Rose Academy of Irish Dance (Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Storrowton Gazebo) — A dance academy from Springfield whose owner, Bridget Barcomb Dupuis, has more than 30 years of Irish dance experience.

The StepCrew (Sept. 13-14 at 2 p.m. on the Court of Honor Stage) — An act that brings together three style of dance: Ottawa Valley stepdance, Irish stepdance and tap. See dancers and musicians, including three “world-class” fiddlers, get audiences “toe tapping and clapping along.”

Cassin Academy of Irish Dance (Sept. 14 at 1:30 at the Storrowton Gazebo) — A dance academy from West Springfield whose students will “grace the gazebo with an authentic routine that pays homage to the genre’s traditional forms while incorporating contemporary techniques.”

House of Hamill (Sept. 14 at 8:30 p.m.) — A band who adds “lush three-part harmonies” to traditional folk ballads and performs original jigs, while telling stories from their experience on the road.

The Big E returns September 12-28.
