January 21 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm EST
Storrowton Village Museum’s annual First Person Presentation will focus this year on Charles Dickens’ “The Pickwick Papers” and his visit to America stopping in Hartford, Conn., and Springfield, Mass. The museum will bring living historian Rick Corbo and his performance of “An Evening with Charles Dickens: The Pickwick Papers” to its historic Union Meetinghouse January 21, from 6:30 to 7:30pm.
During the presentation, Corbo will dress as Charles Dickens and read from the trial in the Pickwick Papers, which was one of Dickens’ favorites and a funny courtroom story. The evening will include a question and answer period and audience participation will be encouraged.
Corbo’s educational background is in theater. He has performed for the award-winning, Connecticut-based puppet company, Elmwood Productions, and starred in the popular EWTN Network series, Saints Versus Scoundrels. He has performed as Charles Dickens for an original Christmas special also by ETWN Network titled Reclaiming the Carol, as well as at Storrowton Village Museum’s 2021 Yuletide with an abridged reading of the 1843 holiday classic, A Christmas Carol.
Tickets are $8 per person in advance at or in the Gift Shop the day of the event. The evening will also be offered via Zoom. Livestream participation is $5 per person in advance on the website. A link will be emailed for viewing live or watching at a later date.
