Springfield Museums, Meet the Grinch in The Grinch’s Grotto
January 21 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm EST
An event every week that begins at 11:00 am on Sunday and Saturday, repeating until January 29, 2023
Springfield Museums is excited to announce The Grinch’s Grotto has been extended by popular demand through Sunday, January 29. Located in the SIS Hall of the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, the Grotto is a cave-like structure with a highly decorated chair for the old curmudgeon himself, in the midst of a Who-ville space with interactive stations sure to amuse the whole family.
New to the experience in January is a large sleigh and a tower of packages and holiday decorations, with the Grinch and his dog Max seated at the top. This display was created by Museum staff and local artist John Simpson, known for his work as part of City Mosaic.
Those who missed out on visiting during the Museums’ Grinchmas Celebration will still have time to greet the Grinch and take selfies and portraits. Check the Museums’ online calendar for a schedule of appearances.
Please note: Because he needs his beauty rest, the Grinch will take a short break every 40 minutes.
More about Grinchmas at the Springfield Museums
Grinchmas is an annual celebration at the Springfield Museums, where The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum and the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden help celebrate Springfield native Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, the author who revolutionized learning how to read by making it fun. This year, during our Seuss-iversary, the Museums have added The Grinch’s Grotto as a must-see, must-experience attraction.
