August 8, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm EDT
Six concerts at the Academy – Sundays, July 11th – August 15th at 4PM! World Renowned Artists — Prizewinning Newcomers.
AUGUST 8th at 4PM: Alexis Walls, violinist, and Lynelle James, pianist
Come join this stunning violin-piano duo in a program of Handel, Fauré, Gershwin, Kreisler, and Piazzolla! Alexis has performed since age 12, including a concerto appearance at The Kennedy Center and for Pope John Paul II in Rome, while Lynelle performed since age 5, appearing at 8 with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in New Zealand and in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. They met in NY Pre-Colleges, and, Lynelle has for years played chamber music with Alexis and her family, including several times with the Kende Trio,at Sevenars! Between them there are too many awards, degrees, and concerts to count. Alexis has led several orchestras, including the World Youth Alliance Orchestra (which joined Lynelle in 2015) and the Metropolitan String Orchestra. Lynelle meanwhile recorded a highly praise CD in 2017 (American Record Guide’s Critic’s Pick) on the Blue Griffin label and had a beautiful Carnegie Weill recital and tour planned for 2020 until the pandemic struck. We are so lucky to have them both back!
Admission is by suggested donation (suggested $20 per person), by cash or check at the door. No tickets or reservations are required or accepted. Complimentary refreshments are offered at intermission. All music lovers welcome, though we ask that children (and adults) be able to sit quietly so as not to disturb others. Note: No cellphones or recording devices are to be turned on at concerts, out of respect to performers’ rights and in the spirit of live music. We look forward to seeing you!
