Say it with Blooms: The Language of Flowers
Monday, February 24, 2025
Ages: 13+
Time: 9:30-12:30
Cost: Members: $20 | Non-members: $24
Flowers have long-held meaning for people. From ancient Greece and Rome to writers like Shakespeare, the symbology held in flowers has been around for centuries. In the 19th century, people took this to a fanatic level, with many households having a dictionary of flower meanings. Flower meanings during the Victorian period were an extremely important part of society in general and of courting in specific.
Participants in this workshop will explore the 19th-century meanings behind these blooms, craft flowers themselves, and learn about the Village’s exhibit about courtship in the 1800s.
PLEASE NOTE: The Village is CLOSED to the public on this date. Please plan to park at the Museum Education Building. For details, download this map. You will not be able to enter through the main Visitor Center.
