MGM Springfield, Holiday Winter Wonderland
November 29, 2024 @ 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm EST
Join us for the annual MGM Springfield Tree Lighting and Ice Rink opening Friday.
The festivities begin Friday with the casino’s annual tree-lighting ceremony, slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Guests are invited to join in on this free, outdoor event and enjoy a hot chocolate or adult beverage from MGM’s outdoor Lion’s Den, located next to the rink. The Guac This Way food truck will be serving up Street Nachos and Mini Street Tacos and, for those with more of a sweet tooth, churros rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with caramel.
At 5:45 p.m., members of the Springfield Symphony Chorus — led by director Nikki Stoia — will perform a holiday concert, and at 6 p.m., Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno and MGM Springfield team members will conduct the tree-lighting ceremony. Other special guests expected include the New England Patriots cheerleaders, Pat the Patriot, Red Sox mascot Wally, the Thunderbirds’ Boomer and Santa himself.
The ceremony also marks the grand opening of the skating rink, which will be open on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. There is an entry fee.
From Nov. 30 through Jan. 19, the ice rink hours will be Wednesday and Thursday, 4 to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 1 to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 10 p.m. The rink is closed on Monday and Tuesday.
Also outdoor on the plaza, guests will enjoy a coordinated holiday tree light and music show that will be displayed every hour on the hour from 2 to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
Ice skating will remain open until January 19, 2025.
Holiday hours are Dec. 23-25, from 4 to 10 p.m.; and Dec. 30-31, as well as New Year’s Day, from 4 to 10 p.m.
Tickets for the ice rink can be purchased in person at MGM Springfield.
