Ludlow, First Night

February 24 @ 11:00 am - 6:00 pm EST

The Ludlow 250th Semi-Quincentennial Celebration Committee invites you and your family for “First Night” at the Ludlow High School on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm with a snow/rain date of Sunday, February 25, 2024. FIREWORKS AT 6:00 pm!

Come and spend the afternoon and evening with the Ludlow 250th Semi-Quincentennial Celebration Committee for “First Night” as we celebrate Ludlow’s Incorporation Day. The town of Ludlow was incorporated on February 28, 1774, when we broke away from Springfield. Therefore, the Celebration Committee chose to celebrate this first event of our 250th birthday year on the weekend so many towns’ people could attend. This fun filled day will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be celebrated into night-fall with a fireworks display at approximately 6:00 p.m. to end the evening with a bang!   This event will mostly be held outdoors.

There will be a wonderful historical presentation with Patriotic music by the Ludlow Community Band in the high school auditorium hosted by Ludlow historians Brian Bylicki and Martin Fanning, both former LHS history teachers. You’ll also see a great collection of photographs printed from original glass plate negatives donated by WestMass of our mills, presented by the Hubbard Memorial Library.  Stop in to the auditorium and learn about our towns history.
