Lanesborough, Hike at Mount Greylock

Join state park staff for fun, family-friendly explorations. All programs are free. Dress appropriately for winter weather; hiking poles and traction devices for boots (or snowshoes) are recommended.

Geocaching 101
Wednesday, December 29, 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Looking for a fun way to engage your tech-savvy kids with the natural world? Try geocaching (JEE-oh-cash-ing)! This outdoor activity combines hiking with a tech-aided treasure hunt. Join Kathy Gwozdz of Berkshire Geobash to learn the basics, then head out on the trail to test out new skills. Can you find the hidden treasure? Beginners are welcome! No experience or digital device necessary. To participate fully you may download the free geocaching.com app and bring your digital device. FREE. For all ages. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Dress appropriately for winter weather; hiking poles and traction devices for boots (or snowshoes) recommended. Family Friendly Trail Hike
Friday, December 31, 1:00pm – 2:30pm
Enjoy a brisk winter trail hike. Suitable for families with children able to walk one to three miles on an easy to moderate trail. Be prepared for the weather, dress in layers and wear sturdy snow boots. Hiking poles and traction devices for boots (or snowshoes) are recommended. Trails may be snow-covered, icy, or muddy. Bring drinking water and a snack. FREE. For all ages. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at Visitor Center. Inclement weather cancels. For more information call (413) 499-4262.

Nature Scavenger Hunt
Sundays Ongoing, 10:00am – 3:00pm

Adventurous quests invite you to search for natural treasures along park trails. We have several “seek and find” scavenger hunts for different age and skill levels. Program is self-guided. Scavenger hunts are available at the Visitor Center. FREE. For all ages. For more information call (413) 499-4262.

The auto roads to the Summit, Bascom Lodge and The War Memorial Tower are closed until May 21, 2022. The Visitor Center and all trails remain open for winter use.

Exhibits explore the park story through artifacts and displays. Trail maps, hike guidance, 13-minute orientation film, bathrooms, drinking water available. Wheelchair accessible. FREE admission.
