Noopura Naadam – The Sound of Ankle Bells

Free

Join us for special dance performances by Layavinyasa Company! During this program, all ages can experience and enjoy the traditional Indian art forms of Kuchipudi Dance and Carnatic music that embody stories from ancient scriptures. Families will also have the opportunity to learn more about the cultural, social, and historical significance of this art form. Performances will take place from 11:30 – 12:15 and again from 1:00 – 1:45. Performances funded in part by Ensworth Charitable Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee.

Sarada Nori is an accomplished performer and teacher of two classical art forms from India – Kuchipudi dance and Carnatic music. She has been trained in these arts by leading exponents and holds a Masters degree specializing in Kuchipudi. Sarada is the founder and artistic director of Layavinyasa, an organization that promotes these art forms in the New England region through training in Kuchipudi dance and Carnatic music, cross-cultural artistic collaboration, and public outreach.

This program is FREE and great for children of all ages! This is a drop-in program; no tickets required. For more information, please contact Katerina Mazzacane, Youth and Family Programs Manager, at 860-236-5621 x222, or email [email protected].

This program is made possible through the generous support of Berkshire Bank.
