Join us for an exciting evening under the stars as we enjoy a hike lit by the full moon.
This season, we have three amazing locations for you to take in the iconic views of the valley:
Mount Holyoke Range, Amherst MA — We’ll start our hike at the new Kestrel Land Trust headquarters located at the foot of the beautiful Mount Holyoke Range, where we will climb for approximately an hour and a half before arriving to the top of Norwottuck. Once there, we will stop to take in the spectacular views and watch the moon rise over the Pelham Hills. Returning to the trailhead, we will have the unique opportunity to take in the sights and sounds of the forest at night, guided by the light of the moon.
Peaked Mountain, Monson MA — This beautiful hike with gradual elevation is a perfect way to enjoy the full moon. With panoramic views of the Connecticut River Valley, the summit of Peaked Mountain is a great place to watch the moon rise over the New England countryside. And like the Norwottuck hike, the descent offers excellent opportunities to take in the sights and sounds of the forest from a unique perspective at night. If you’re closer to Springfield, this Monson location may be just right for you!
Notchview, Windsor MA – Of our three locations, this hike is our most gentle. Located in the Berkshires, our hike at Notchview offers mostly flat terrain with beautifully groomed trails nestled among red spruce and northern hardwood forest land. Perfect for woodland wanderers, this is a great spot to watch the full moon rise under a blanket of stars.
This highest peak on the Mount Holyoke Range offers sweeping and iconic views of the valley from the summit. Lined with wildflowers, the well-marked trails offer a scenic, can’t-miss adventure in Western Mass.
Situated in the heart of an extensive natural area, Peaked Mountain (pronounced pea-kid) is surrounded by approximately 2,000 acres of diverse habitats, including mixed-composition forests, ponds, marshes, and beaver swamps, making for exciting, year-round adventures.
A part of the Hoosac Range, Notchview offers over 3,000 acres of rolling terrain and miles of groomed ski trails. Open year-round, this gorgeous property is a picturesque and idyllic spot ideal for a plethora of outdoor experiences.
