2018 Tanglewood Season

June 15 - September 2

For the popular music fan, Roger Daltrey and the Boston Pops will perform The Who’s Tommy on June 15. Mary Chapin Carpenter and David Crosby June 16, and Steven Stills and Judy Collins June 19. Alison Krauss performs on June 19 with special guest Steven Delopolous. Andy Grammer arrives June 22, and Harry Connick Jr. brings New Orleans jazz to the Shed on June 23. Audra McDonald joins the Boston Pops on Sunday, June 24.

The folk rock pioneer and two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee David Crosby performs with singer-songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter and American duo Chris Hillman and Herb Pedersen take the stage together.

This summer, the two icons of folk will join forces for the first time onstage together. For this once-in-a-lifetime experience, legends Stephen Stills and Judy Collins will pull from their rich catalogs, including songs from their 2017 album together, and share warm and intimate stories from their journeys and the 1960s folk scene they helped build.

The winner of a record-breaking six Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and an Emmy Award, she was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2015 and received a 2015 National Medal of Arts-America’s highest honor for achievement in the arts. With the Boston Pops, she presents a program of songs ranging from standards by Sondheim, Rodgers, and Gershwin to the sounds of today’s leading music theater composers.

American Public Media’s popular Live From Here returns to Tanglewood, with its new host Chris Thile. He will be joined by an incredible array of special musical guests-some known to all, and some who soon will be!-for a unique blend of comedy and spoken word. A vocalist and mandolin virtuoso, Chris will perform his Song of the Week, written especially by Thile for the evening’s program.

Bernstein’s On the Town. A collaboration with choreographer Jerome Robbins and the writing team of Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Leonard Bernstein’s On the Town-the story of three sailors on shore leave in New York City- arrived on Broadway in December 1944, when he was just twenty-six. Based on his popular ballet collaboration with Robbins, Fancy Free (being performed August 18), it was not only his first musical, it was a first for Comden and Green, who would become Broadway and Hollywood legends in their own right. Hit songs include “New York, New York” and “Some Other Time.”

Comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short have joined forces for their hit show “An Evening You Will Forget For The Rest Of Your Life.” Martin and Short will be joined by the Grammy Award winning bluegrass band Steep Canyon Rangers. Audiences can expect an evening of nonstop laughs as the duo recall their iconic careers, creative influences and most memorable encounters, uniquely presented though a blend of stand-up, musical numbers and conversations about their lives in show business.
